the UC Davis Taekwondo team competed at the 40th Collegiate National Championships at the University of Delaware. Combined, the ten of us had 23 matches at the end of the weekend. 9 of these were won by a gap, and all of them were fought until the end. We left Delaware with one bronze, one silver, and one gold. However, that's not all we left with.
We also returned home with lessons learned, and an even stronger bond between one another. Our trip taught us what skills we should work on for the next upcoming tournaments, and it also taught us that together we are unstoppable. No matter what happened in the ring, we remembered to draw strength from one another and stand together as a team.
In addition to everything else, all of us qualified to compete this summer at the 2015 U.S. National Championships in Austin, Texas! We will be continuing our training and competing at more local tournaments and scrimmages to prepare.
Many thanks are owed to our own Coach Antipa, and to our Collegiate Assistant Coach Fred Estrada.
We would also like to give a special thanks to Chuck Buhs from the Mount Shasta Martial Arts Program and Richard Florendo from Mountain Fitness for hosting us in Mount Shasta a couple of weeks ago. We were given the opportunity to train for Collegiates in a high altitude region, teach a class, and present a demo to the Mount Shasta community. Thank you both, and to the residents of the area, for being so welcoming and accommodating! We couldn't have done it without you all.
